Our Science

We started Furry Friend Labs because the label was the problem.

Walk the supplement aisle and almost every bottle says the same three words: hip, joint, formula. Turn it over and the actual amounts are hidden inside a "proprietary blend" — a legal way of telling you there is glucosamine in the tub without telling you how much. In a category where the dose is the product, that is not a detail. It is the whole thing.

So we built the company around one rule: every active ingredient, declared at its exact milligram amount, on every product page and every label. If we can't say how much is in there, we don't sell it.

How a Furry Friend Labs formula gets made

1. We start from the published dose, not the marketing dose

Every active we use has to have a body of evidence behind it in dogs — and we formulate at the amount those studies actually used. A joint chew with 100 mg of glucosamine is not a weak version of a good product. It is a different product, one that was never going to do anything.

2. Form matters as much as amount

Chelated minerals instead of oxides, because they absorb. Undenatured type II collagen instead of hydrolyzed, because that is the form the low-dose research used. Cold-pressed, nitrogen-flushed marine oil, because an oxidized fish oil is worse than no fish oil. These choices cost more and never appear in an ad. They are most of the difference between two labels that read identically.

3. Nothing is dosed to impress

Megadosing fat-soluble vitamins looks generous on a label and accumulates in the animal. We formulate our multivitamin to be safe given every day for a decade, which is how it will actually be used.

4. Every batch is tested, and the certificate is available

Third-party testing for potency, heavy metals, microbial contamination and — for our oils — peroxide value. If you want the certificate of analysis for the batch code on your tub, email us and we'll send it.

What we will never claim

Supplements are nutrition. They are not medicine, and we won't write copy that blurs the two.

  • A supplement does not treat arthritis, allergies, or inflammatory bowel disease. Those are diagnoses, and they belong to your vet.
  • Sudden lameness, lameness in one leg, blood in the stool, or hair loss with sores are not supplement problems. Book the appointment.
  • Nothing here replaces pain management your vet has prescribed. Ask before you stop anything.

What good nutrition does do — reliably, over months rather than days — is give the body better material to work with. That is a modest claim. It is also a true one, and we would rather build a brand on it.

The plain-English guarantee

Give it 90 days at the labeled dose. If your dog is no better, email us and we'll refund it — the opened tub included. We ask for 90 days because that is how long these ingredients honestly take, and we'd rather set that expectation than sell you something you abandon in week two.

Furry Friend Labs products are intended for dogs and cats. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
